Although it was officially titled “WBA Supporters Club End of Season Awards” there is no doubt in my mind that this was the long overdue return of the “Player of the Year Night”.

 

The Richardson Suite in the East Stand at The Hawthorns was packed to the rafters with Supporters evoking memories of those fabulous nights at The Tower Ballroom and Kings Cabaret Theatre.

 

If wasn’t for the hard work of Supporters Club Committee members; John Homer, Dave Holloway, Alan Cleverley, Mike Thomas, Linda Higgs, Julie Stevens and Steve Taylor the whole event would have never even got off the ground. However, the most important part of the jigsaw for everyone in reality is the players. The one person who made all that happen was Tony Mowbray. So, thank you Tony, and your first team squad for giving up their valuable time at such an important stage of the season.

 

In years gone by there was usually a clear candidate for the Player of the Year but this season it has never been closer. Indeed through out the evening no less than seven different players picked up ‘Branch Awards’ and if you include the ‘Goal of the Season’ award you can make that eight!

 

I hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and I would like to thank them for supporting the event which I believe was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who made it all happen and let’s hope that the “PLAYER OF THE YEAR NIGHT” is back to stay!

Members who have renewed their membership for the new season should receive an information sheet at various times. If you have given us your e mail address and have not received e mails from us please email the web-site with your membership details and we will investigate for you. Before you contact us please bear in mind it can take upto 2 weeks from you submitting your membership form to the time your information is on our data base. I do have a number of members whose e mail addresses have come up invalid..... perhaps it's my eyesight.
